The story began in 1946 in Sarraix, near Thiers in the Puy-de-Dôme, the creation date of THE famous beach sandal, now emblematic of the Méduse brand.
A flexible plastic sandal, recognizable by its studded sole, rounded toe, and braided straps. In the aftermath of the Second World War, leather was scarce, and the innovative nature of plastic gave Joseph Dauphant, a cutler, the idea for a shoe created entirely from this material. Highly innovative, it combined a new material and a new technique: injection molding.
Today, Méduse continues to manufacture and sell the original model. The sandal with its timeless design has not changed since its origins.

The Méduse brand has since diversified, creating new sandal models for the summer, as well as boots and clogs for rain and gardening.
Designed and manufactured in Western France (some are made in Morocco), all products in the Méduse range are made from phthalate-free plastic and are 100% recyclable.
The Méduse brand is a registered trademark of the Groupe Humeau-Beaupréau.
