CUTTING BOARD - SOLID BEECH - VIVANT STORE!
We have developed completely natural boards, made from local, untreated solid beech, to support you in your preparations in the kitchen.
Each piece of wood has been selected by us to create unique boards with different patterns.
Beech is one of the hardwoods. Very appreciated in small carpentry for its fine and homogeneous grain, it is robust and durable.
A solid wood board is ALIVE! Contrary to some popular belief, wood naturally retains its anti-bacterial properties. It will patina beautifully over time :)
- Dimensions: 38 x 20 x 3 cm
- Each board is different! the designs of the wood are random, they can be very marked or on the contrary uniform.
Our boards are manufactured by Tournabois, an artisanal carpentry created in 1950 in Villedieu-Les-Poêles in Normandy. Mainly using local wood species, its businesses are wood turning and machining. At Tournabois, nothing is lost, every waste is recovered. The falls are used to heat the workshop in winter. Sawdust and shavings, coming only from untreated solid wood, are used as natural animal bedding.
Mr Galopin, the boss, is a certified Artisan.
Untreated wood is a living material. It is advisable to clean the board with clear water and dry it thoroughly after use.
Over time, to nourish and revitalize the wood, you can treat the board with natural food-grade oils.
If, despite your best efforts, your board becomes warped, simply place it under a weight for a while and it will naturally regain its shape.
The Tournabois woodwork shop was established in 1950 in Villedieu-les-Poêles, a commune located on the borders of Normandy, Brittany, and the Pays de la Loire, classified as a "City of Arts and Crafts."
Initially a simple sawmill, it rapidly evolved into a turning shop to supply tool manufacturers (hammer handles, files, and grips) and kitchen utensil manufacturers (saucepan handles, warming pan handles, and coffee pots).
Later, it expanded into woodturning for household goods, namely the manufacture of small home decor items: small furniture, stools, cutting boards, etc.
Taken over in 2015 by Vincent Galopin, a qualified artisan, the company continues its evolution in niche markets, where its expertise and quality are recognized.
Tournabois primarily works with local wood: beech, ash, pear, etc.
All wood comes from forest plots managed in a sustainable and responsible manner.
At Tournabois, nothing is wasted; every bit of waste is put to use. Offcuts are used to heat the workshop in winter. Sawdust and wood shavings, sourced exclusively from untreated solid wood, are used as natural animal bedding.
Tournabois's objective is to promote French manufacturing. An external and independent auditor checks compliance with ecological commitments and the quality of the company's products every year.
