“You might think I’m a bit of a crackpot, but oh well…”
From the age of 6, François Morel (not the actor, mind you) began to get fascinated by birds.
“I’m completely crazy about them, that’s for sure. When I was very small, what I wanted was to talk to animals. I believe it works. Thanks to my vocal tools, I manage to get a little closer to the birds, listen to them, answer them, and have, from time to time, exchanges…”
A naturalist and ornithologist, François Morel devotes a passion to crafting his bird calls. Rather than using them for hunting, François wanted the calls to become a tool for observing birds.
To create these instruments, he combines two qualities. “It’s a story of craftsmanship and a love story.”
He established his company, “Quelle est belle company,” more than forty years ago in the Diois region, in the north of the Drôme.
Good to know 😉: Björk recently fell in love with his work. She released a Deluxe version of her album “Utopia” accompanied by 14 bird calls, the “Utopia Bird Call Box,” manufactured by QBC.
