Based on his own personal experiences (he reached the summit himself several times), he created innovative mountaineering equipment, utilizing the expertise of renowned craftsmen from Sanjo, who specialize in metalwork (the city where our tools and some Niwaki knives are produced).
In the 1970s, his son Tohru decided to expand the range to include camping and the outdoor lifestyle.
His feelings of frustration and disconnection while in the city disappeared when spending time in nature—a form of healing, both restorative and revitalizing.
Today, Snow Peak’s mission remains the same: to offer and create restorative outdoor experiences that alleviate the stress of modern life and reconnect us to the rhythms of the natural world.
