1945: Tempered glass is glass heated to 700°C and rapidly cooled. This makes it 6 times more resistant than standard glass, capable of withstanding temperatures of 130°C and higher. Originally used in industry, Duralex was the first manufacturer to use it for tableware and everyday items.
