This set brings together three nocturnal birds of prey that are very familiar in France. The best time to hear them all remains the same: spring, at twilight, in the middle of mating season.
The tawny owl is the most common of the nocturnal birds of prey and the only one to venture into the heart of cities, as comfortable in a forest as it is in a park or a large garden. Its territorial song starts at the beginning of autumn, picks up again in earnest in February-April for the mating display, and can be heard from nightfall: the famous "hoo-hoooo," so recognizable, the background sound of every movie night!
The long-eared owl loves forest edges and wooded hedgerows: thickets, old orchards, and woods bordering rivers. Its deep "hooo" can be heard in the evening and at night, from February to April, in the middle of its mating display.
The little owl leaves the forest for open environments: grazed meadows, old walls, stone piles, fence posts. It is the most diurnal of our nocturnal birds of prey: you can easily come across it in broad daylight. Its song can be heard at twilight, until around 1 a.m., with a peak between March and April, in the middle of mating season.
Using a bird call is about learning to recognize birds by their song, communicating with them, discovering them, observing them…
A bird call is above all an educational nature toy for enjoyment, because we believe that "you must know nature better in order to protect it better."
Each bird call is delivered in a wooden box, with all the necessary information for its use. Handcrafted in the Drôme region.

Imitating the three nocturnal birds of prey
Long-eared owl: this bird call also allows you to reach out to the short-eared owl and the Eurasian eagle-owl. Remember to note your observations and share them with nature conservation associations: this data helps to better protect the habitats where these species live. click here🎵!
Little owl: its song is a regular sequence of long, drawn-out, repeated "coo-ee" calls. You must do the same by inhaling into the bird call, held sideways in your mouth. Do not leave it in a damp place, as it will lose its voice. click here🎵!
Tawny owl: hold the bird call and block the top hole with one hand, and with the index finger of the other, block the hole at the end. Blow. A call. Silence, wait a few seconds: 3, 4, 5, 6, 7. Then blow in soft jerks, opening the top hole. Hoot while playing with the opening at the end. Finish by dragging/trilling "Oo - oo oo oo". click here🎵!

Quelle Est Belle Company bird calls have been created and handcrafted for over 40 years by François Morel and his team in the Drôme, on a farm in the heart of the vegetation and preserved nature. This is where he designs, spends a long time perfecting, and tests all his creations. Each bird call is unique, turned, assembled, and varnished by hand. He only uses natural and local wood species, such as boxwood, beech, or linden. There are only 2 bird call manufacturers left in France, the other is intended for hunting..

"You might think I'm a bit crazy, but well..."
From the age of 6, François Morel (not the actor, mind you) began to get fascinated by birds:
"I'm completely crazy about it, that's for sure. When I was very small, what I wanted was to talk to animals. I think it works. Thanks to my speech tools, I manage to get a little closer to the birds, listen to them, answer them, and have, from time to time, exchanges..."
A naturalist and ornithologist, François Morel dedicates his passion to crafting his bird calls. Rather than using them to kill, François wanted the bird calls to become a tool for observing birds. To create these instruments, he combines two qualities. "It's a story of tinkering and a story of love." He set up his company "Quelle est belle company" more than forty years ago in the Diois, north of the Drôme.
