Practical, easy to store and transport, each piece is stackable, like camping cookware. The stainless steel is thin and lightweight, yet sturdy and rust-resistant.

The originality of Kinto's design lies in its multi-functionality, thanks to the slot created on the side, which allows each piece to be used with a removable handle to turn it into a cooking utensil: FORIS is not just a plate, bowl, or mug; it is a frying pan, a saucepan, a lid, or an oven dish. The slot also allows the tableware to be hung from hooks for easy drying. Unlike traditional enameled tableware with rolled edges, the thin, straight-edge design prevents water from accumulating, which speeds up drying.

JIN KURAMOTO

To envision this collection, Kinto called upon Jin Kuramoto, an industrial designer with a passion for the outdoors and an experienced fisherman. Renowned for giving projects distinct forms based on concepts and stories, he contributed numerous ideas drawn from his personal experience, such as the slots in the bowl to facilitate drying and the attachment for the handle to transform them into cooking utensils.

Jun is a director of the Japan Creative Association and vice-chairman of the Good Design Award screening committee.

Kinto was founded in 1979 in Hikone, Shiga Prefecture, Japan, in a rural landscape with no train station or main road nearby.

It is there that designers create simple, beautiful, and functional objects: a Japanese philosophy designed for everyday life.

In 2023, KINTO FARM was launched, a farm started from scratch on raw land, a field of exploration for a lifestyle connected to nature, the seasons, and the community.
