Its spout, equipped with a movable flap, protects the water from ash, embers, or insects while heating, and opens naturally as soon as you tilt the kettle.

Yukio Yamai founded Snow Peak in 1958, named after Mount Tanigawa, a Japanese mountain famous for its beauty. The quality, technology, and robustness of Snow Peak products make it the benchmark brand for Japanese outdoor gear.

Yukio Yamai founded Snow Peak in 1958, named after Mount Tanigawa, a Japanese mountain famous for its beauty, but also for its danger and the many failures of mountaineers attempting to reach its glorious summit.

Drawing on his personal experiences (he himself reached its summit several times), he created innovative mountaineering equipment, utilizing the skills of renowned artisans in Sanjo who specialized in metalworking (the city where our tools and some Niwaki knives are produced).

In the 70s, his son Tohru decided to expand the brand's offerings to include camping and the outdoor lifestyle.

His sense of frustration and disconnection while in the city would disappear when spending time in nature—a sort of healing, restorative, and revitalizing process.

Today, Snow Peak’s mission remains the same: to offer and create restorative outdoor experiences that alleviate the stresses of modern life and help us reconnect with the rhythms of the natural world.
