Plasticana reduces petroleum use by using renewable carbon derived from photosynthesis: HEMP,
A blend of PVC and natural fibers, Plasticana is 100% recyclable, to infinity and beyond,
No dyes are used; this is the fiber's natural color, making each pair different and unique.
PLASTICANA®:
FROM PHOTOSYNTHESIS : Plasticana is committed to reducing the use of petroleum by using renewable carbon derived from photosynthesis: HEMP. This plant was chosen because:
- it grows in all latitudes.
- it fixes as much carbon or more in 4 months of growth as a forest in our temperate countries does in 12 months!!
- the resistance of its textile part reinforces the plastic with which it is blended,
- the sugars it contains naturally color the material a caramel tone, which avoids the use of chemical pigments.
- Each piece has a unique color
TO THE SYNTHETIC MATERIAL : Plasticana only accepts the use of recyclable (or recycled) plastics in the blend with the hemp fiber. Among these, vinyl families are preferred because they have less dependence on petroleum (57% is derived from salt, and the remaining 43% of ethylene could be produced from sugar plants such as beets in the future).
TO THE RE-SOURCE OF SYNTHESIS : Plasticana products can be processed through existing recycling methods.
Once returned to granules, they can be given a new life cycle in a new form,
All share the same destiny: to be able to become a material for future generations once again!
Andre Ravachol : Founder of the Plasticana brand in 1998, André Ravachol fights for the union of the technological heritages of plastics manufacturing and hemp farming.
A creator of eco-materials, he collaborates with the Humeau-Baupreau group (manufacturer of MEDUSE sandals), which has been producing Plasticana shoes since 2008.
