"WARIKOMI" HATCHET - OLD STOCK SAKURA - OUTINOMI x MAGASIN VIVANT!
This Warikomi hatchet is a vintage piece from the Japanese Sakura forge; it is new but originates from dormant stock from the 90s, rehabilitated by Outinomi. We love this approach :)
Its blade is hand-forged using a "San Mai" structure composed of 3 layers of laminated steel. A core of extremely hard carbon steel is sandwiched between two layers of softer iron. This structure allows for a combination of a laser-sharp edge and foolproof structural robustness. It is also distinguished by an "annealed" finish with bluish highlights, bearing witness to a heat treatment perfectly mastered in the 90s.
This hatchet is designed to accompany all your carving and woodworking tasks. Thanks to the thickness of its head, it is also very effective for splitting small logs for a fireplace, barbecue, or campfire. A versatile, handy, and durable tool, as at home in the workshop as it is outdoors.

Exclusive collaboration: OUTINOMI x MAGASIN VIVANT!
Together with Outinomi, we select the best of Japanese craftsmanship and utilitarian design—tools that are as simple as they are intuitive to use for all basic tasks, while guaranteeing strictly professional quality.
This young company was founded in 2024 by Lucas Hoffalt, a "designer-artisan" who graduated from the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs. Outinomi represents a bridge between the last great Japanese blacksmiths and Western artisans.
Lucas offers tools that have a soul, often sourced from small, traditional forges. His approach is distinguished by an extremely sharp selection, ranging from new tools to rare "vintage" pieces (Showa era) that he refurbishes himself, sourced for their exceptional forging quality.
