MIXED CLAY BOWL - "MANGEOIRES SERIES" - NATURAL - LÉA BALDASSARI X MAGASIN VIVANT!
Mixed-clay bowl, handmade by ceramicist Léa Baldassari, from the "Mangeoires" (Feeders) series.
Léa Baldassari x Magasin Vivant: "A collection where human plates and bird feeders share the same earth, the same form… and the same philosophy: our worlds are not separate, but intertwined within the same ecosystem."
This collection celebrates interdependence: every gesture in favor of biodiversity is a step toward our own balance.
Hand-shaped, these pieces use the mixed-clay technique (terre mêlée): a random blend of black and white clays, symbolizing union and making each piece unique. The grogged stoneware gives them a raw mineral texture and a robustness suitable for both outdoor and indoor use.
The choice of grogged stoneware: Chamotte (grog) is clay that has already been fired, then crushed into small grains and reintroduced into fresh clay. It serves as a structural framework. By reducing shrinkage during drying and firing, it limits the risk of cracks and makes the object resistant to impacts & temperature variations.
- Bowl dimensions: 15 x 5 cm
- Material: Mixed clay (Grogged stoneware)
- Craftsmanship: Handmade in Léa's studio, Paris 11th arrondissement.
Léa Baldassari is a French ceramicist working in her studio located in the 11th arrondissement of Paris. Passionate about raw material, she practices hand-modeling, a technique where every piece bears the traces of her hands.
Her pieces, which are utilitarian and functional, are mainly made of stoneware. Specializing in the mixed-clay technique, Léa creates the pattern at the very heart of the material. By orchestrating the blend of contrasting clays, she lets the natural movement of the shaping process guide the veins of the earth, making each piece strictly unique.
Her approach to the material is instinctive; the textures are raw, organic, sensual, and poetic.
