Bat shelter in untreated Morvan Douglas fir, developed with the support of the League for the Protection of Birds.

Bats, natural insecticides: every evening in the summer, bats tirelessly roam their territory in search of food, swallowing everything that flies, thus regulating the populations of insects with a tendency to proliferate. .

It's fantastic to welcome bats, they love what we hate, the mosquitoes which spoil our aperitifs or barbecues, and obviously the insects which love to attack the flowers and the vegetable garden.

Bats cannot make nests on their own, they rely on existing holes and slots for shelter.

The modification of our landscapes, the intensification of urbanization, the change in architecture, have caused the scarcity of these sites naturally suitable for welcoming them.

In town or in the countryside, setting up a shelter helps them find a place to shelter and rest.

Established in 1991, L’ESAT Le Morvan in Montsauche, located in the heart of the Morvan Regional Natural Park, is one of the facilities within the Work Assistance Program.

L’ESAT Le Morvan has successfully leveraged local wealth: wood, particularly Douglas fir, which is naturally resistant for outdoor use, by crafting it into various forms.

  • It accommodates up to 39 disabled workers and provides daily support for its users, as well as managing various workshops and adapted services: Production of outdoor wooden furniture for local communities
  • Production of birdhouses and feeders, Christmas cribs, and insect shelters for major retailers
  • Maintenance of green spaces for individuals, professionals, and local authorities.

L’ESAT Le Morvan holds the "Morvan Nature et Talents" label, meeting specifications regarding its geographical location and local wood procurement. This guarantees "ultra-local" sourcing, mutual support between companies, and a commitment to promoting Morvan authenticity by highlighting the region.

L’ESAT Le Morvan is a member of the GESAT Network (Group of Establishments and Services for Work Assistance).
